If you can recognise all cops are bad why can’t you recognise that with the troops 🤔
Seriously lmfao some of the same people arguing being a police officer is a choice act like you’re forced to join the military
Some people really don’t have much of choice. To avoid the way in which the state in some countries, particularly the US, utilises economic coercion as well as manipulation via propaganda on young working class people in order to recruit for the military is to regard the politics of convenience over the the politics of material reality.
If we demonised the worker in every industry we opposed then we would be pretty shitty leftists, in fact we would probably be liberals. The working class under capitalism participates in the murder and disenfranchisement of other working class people as a means to survive as individuals and families as is the specific intention of liberal and neoliberal policy.
ya we know all this fuck em anyway the blood of the global south isn’t currency for the improvement of your “material reality”! the cops and the troops aren’t part of the working class they’re mercenary thugs for the ruling class what tf is this dumbassery about “demonizing the worker” of the murder “industry”? don’t you leftists know the term class enemies?
You’re expecting a lot of class consciousness and global awareness from young people with poor education and no money.
Also you’re still assigning individual responsibility.
“poor education”
Veterans are more likely to have a High School diploma, and just as likely to have a college degree as your average non-murderous empire-expanding Joe
“no money”
“The most important takeaway from these numbers is what they say about Americans in general. Many who choose to join the military do not necessarily do so because they are out of options, or because they have nothing to lose. Something more, and something bigger, is at work.
The fact that so many privileged and educated Americans choose to serve says that the importance of camaraderie and brotherhood sometimes outweighs the financial loss or the risks of war. It says that there are things out there greater than sitting in a classroom or making a lot of money. It says that for many of our men and women in uniform — poor or wealthy, black, white, or Hispanic — the greatest currency to possess in their lives is honor and respect. And it says that patriotism is alive and well in this country.“
Not to mention the inherent elitism and condescension in what you just said.
You claim that criticizing individual members of the military is a liberal ideal…yet you’re using all of a typical liberal’s talking points in your defense of these murdering scumbags.
And it is their individual responsibility /not/ to join the military. There is always a choice, and even if there isn’t, I still say fuck those who decide to join.
